SOLID FESTIVALS 2010
Essex-based SOLID events are moving into a ‘new phase’ of ministry for 2010.
A plan to establish SOLID as an independent charity, committed to supporting the ongoing ministry of youth and children’s leaders across Essex, the London Borough of Havering and East London, is just one indication of the changes. Since its inception, whilst working in partnership with other organisations, SOLID’s infrastructure has been firmly based within Viz-A-Viz Ministries. Becoming an independent
charity but continuing to be underwritten and run by five major organisations is therefore a significant step forward.
There are also three great events planned for 2010 - kicking off on 15th January with SOLID REMIX, a unique, fast-paced and engaging youth event at Chelmsford Cathedral.
At a recent meeting of the SOLID partners, there was a fresh sense of excitement for all that God has in store for the coming year through SOLID’s ongoing ministry.
‘2010 marks 15 years of SOLID and we have seen this ministry go from strength to strength over the years,’ says Reverend Dennis Pethers, International Director of Viz-A-Viz Ministries and founder of SOLID.
‘Our vision at the beginning was to complement the ongoing ministry of local churches around the Essex area by providing a fun, intentionally evangelistic event in the region that created a sense of solidarity for children and young people seeking to discover what it means to be a Christian in this generation.
‘As we get ready for the REMIX and then the SOLID and Junior SOLID festivals in July (9th – 11th) this vision has not changed and the partnership team is just as committed to this aim as ever before!’
As the partners met last week to confirm the theme and working structure for the next phase of SOLID’s ministry, expectations were high for 2010 and the team was excited about the impact that exploring what it means for God to promise us ‘new things’ will have in the lives of children and young people involved in SOLID 2010.
Reverend Pete Hillman,Minister at Legacy, and Reverend Ed Jones,Director of Arise Ministries, will coordinate
the SOLID and Junior SOLID planning teams this year, supported by the partners and, of course, the SOLID team based at Viz-A-Viz Ministries in Basildon.
